One of the key objectives of the Partnership is to promote opportunities for exchanges between Aachen and Cape Town to enable support for projects and organizations within the Partnership. Since the inception of Partnership there have been a lot of people moving both north and south, including exchanges, volunteers, training, conferences and also social visits. Detailed reports are available on request.
The main sponsor for Partnership exchanges has been InWEnt (formerly Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft, CDG) which stands for Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung (International Capacity Building and Development).
They were an organization for international human resources development, advanced training and dialogue. They had been established through a merger of Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft (CDG) and the German Foundation for International Development (DSE) and could draw on decades of experience in international co-operation.
Through a merger of InWEnt, gtz and DED in 2011 the new organisation GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) was formed. In 2012 the GIZ then actually outsourced several programs to its affiliate Engagement Global, which is now the main actor in the exchange programs.
It stands for South African German Network. It is a non-profit organisation that promotes exchanges between South Africa and Germany and offers a networking platform for different co-operations and long-lasting partnerships. For more information click here → SAGE Net
